A recent staircase refinish for a Simcoe County client — tired hardwood transformed into a rich, modern dark stain that anchors the whole entryway. Drag the slider to compare.

Oak treads stained dark, spindles sprayed black, and a handrail brought back by hand. Stair work in older Barrie homes means stripping decades of layered finish before anything new goes on — and masking well enough that the floor underneath comes out clean.

Barrie combines older Allandale and downtown homes with painted wood detail and rapid newer growth through Innis-Shore and Ardagh, where builder-grade interiors are the norm.
Every corner of Barrie is covered, and most of what borders it — call 289-988-1318 if your street is not named above.
Barrie splits between its older core and its rapid newer growth, and the two need different things. Allandale, the downtown streets and Letitia Heights have mature housing with painted wood trim, porches and soffits, plaster interiors, and the layered paint history that goes with age. Ardagh, Innis-Shore, Holly and East Bayfield are newer subdivision building where the walls are sound and the developer's flat paint is the entire complaint.
Kempenfelt Bay drives the difference on exteriors. Properties near the water take wind and moisture that inland Barrie does not, and the exposed elevations there weather faster than anything else in the city. Barrie also gets more snow than most of the places we work, which matters more for exterior painting than people expect — the working season is genuinely shorter here, and the window for coating within a product's rated temperature range closes earlier in the autumn.
That makes scheduling a real factor rather than an administrative detail. Exterior work in Barrie books through spring and early summer, and we would rather tell you in April that the calendar is filling than tell you in September that we cannot do it properly.
Interior work runs year-round without that constraint, and through the winter it is most of what we do here — whole-home repaints, kitchens, basements and trim. Sunnidale and Painswick send us a steady stream of that.
Barrie also has a substantial rental and student housing market around Georgian College, with turnover work that needs to be quick, durable and priced to suit.

Barrie combines older Allandale and downtown homes with painted wood detail and rapid newer growth through Innis-Shore and Ardagh, where builder-grade interiors are the norm. It matters because preparation decides how long a finish lasts, and what a Barrie house needs depends entirely on which of those it is. We quote from what we see on your Barrie walls, not from a price list.
Typically 1–3 weeks from quote acceptance, depending on the season. The exterior season is genuinely shorter here — the window for coating inside a product’s rated temperature range closes earlier in the autumn than it does further south. Call 289-988-1318 for current availability in Barrie.
Yes. We come out to the property, measure the actual scope, talk through finishes and email a written quote — usually within 1 business day. No charge, and no pressure to book afterwards.
Benjamin Moore (Aura, Regal Select, Advance), Sherwin-Williams (Emerald, Duration), PPG, and Farrow & Ball on luxury projects. Properties near Kempenfelt Bay take wind and moisture that inland Barrie does not, and those elevations need a heavier exterior specification. We never use builder-grade or economy paint.
Yes — general liability insurance and WSIB coverage. Proof of insurance is available on request, and we re-confirm both for every commercial or condo board project.
The older Allandale and downtown houses have layered paint on wood trim and plaster inside, both of which need real preparation rather than a quick sand. Preparation is around 60% of a quality paint job and we never skip it — filling, sanding, priming and masking all happen before any colour goes on, and we clean up daily.
