Venetian plaster is a layered, hand-trowelled mineral finish. It is not a rolled imitation paint effect. Substrate flatness, sample approval, trowel technique, burnishing, and the correct sealer determine the final depth, sheen, and suitability for the room.
Colour, aggregate, trowel movement, layer count, burnish, and sealer all change how a plaster finish reads in daylight and artificial light. A sample board creates an approval standard for the wall and should be reviewed in the actual room.
The wall must be stable, flat, and prepared for the selected mineral system. Existing texture, cracks, contaminated paint, and moisture problems are corrected before the finish layers begin.
Venetian plaster can be used in bathrooms when the product system, ventilation, exposure, and sealer are appropriate. A powder room is a different environment from a shower enclosure, and the specification should reflect that difference.

The result depends entirely on the process. Substrate prep has to be meticulous — a smooth, properly primed base is essential before plaster ever touches the wall. The final layer is compressed and polished with a trowel or burnishing tool to develop the finish's signature depth and movement, and an optional wax or sealer topcoat can be added for durability and extra luster, particularly in powder rooms or other higher-moisture spaces.
