Limewash is one of the oldest finishes in architecture — a wash made from hydrated lime, or today from modern mineral-based systems like Romabio Classico Limewash, historically used on masonry across Europe. Its defining trait is a soft, cloudy, variegated texture that is completely different from flat paint, and it has become a favourite finish for exterior brick facades and interior accent walls chasing an Old-World or modern farmhouse aesthetic.

It generally works best on bare, unpainted brick or previously limewashed surfaces. Painted brick may need extra prep or a different product recommendation, which we assess during your on-site consultation.
